Paddle Up Pickleball Tournament to Fight Cancer

Gear up for a day of pickleball and purpose! The Paddle Up Pickleball Tournament is set for Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the Tennis and Pickleball Club at Newport Beach, benefiting the John Wayne Cancer Foundation.

Hosted by Marisa Wayne, the youngest daughter of Hollywood icon John Wayne and a passionate pickleball player, this event promises an action-packed day of competition and camaraderie. Marisa, a dedicated member of the club, is eager to unite pickleball enthusiasts of all skill levels for this meaningful occasion.

“We’re delighted to host this tournament in honor of my father and his legacy. He was a bold advocate for those battling cancer through sharing his own journey and encouraging others to seek treatment early,” says Marisa Wayne. “Pickleball is a sport that brings people together, and I can’t think of a better way to support the John Wayne Cancer Foundation than by enjoying a day of friendly competition with our amazing community.”

The tournament will follow a round-robin format, giving everyone plenty of time on the courts. With games divided by skill level, this event welcomes players of all abilities. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or new to the game, there’s a place for you at the Paddle Up Pickleball Tournament.

All proceeds will support the John Wayne Cancer Foundation’s mission to advance cancer research, provide patient support, and promote cancer prevention. By joining, players will not only enjoy a day of sport and fellowship but also contribute to these critical initiatives.
